Especially in winter the movement is quickly too short. Bad weather, our own cosiness and the cold temperatures often make us shy away from doing sports. We show how we can also incorporate movement in winter and especially after the Christmas holidays, both outside and indoors. So we not only stay fit and active in winter but can directly burn the countless cookies, the Christmas roast & Co. again.
- Skating is a great exercise option for the whole family, as it promotes coordination and the sense of balance and also strengthens endurance. Special ice rinks are ideal for this or, in particularly cold winters, a frozen lake. However, great caution is required, because often the ice layer is not yet thick enough and therefore not load-bearing. Therefore, the lake may only be entered if it has been officially cleared by a local authority.
- Off into the snow. There are numerous winter activities on offer. From sledging on a nearby hill or in the mountains, to building snowmen in the park or garden, to snowball fights. The fun is guaranteed, both for young and old.
- If we have a little more time available and the conditions fit, classic winter sports activities such as cross-country skiing, skiing and snowboarding are of course also available. Children can also learn these at a young age. So nothing stands in the way of a family winter sports holiday.
- A nice winter walk is also recommended. For example in a nearby forest, a beautiful park or by a lake. Small movement challenges can also be installed here such as balancing on a tree trunk, walking 10 meters backwards, “Who can make it to the car with as few steps as possible?” or the like. But beware: If the temperatures are below freezing the ground could be smooth!
- Fitness trails also offer variety and momentum in a walk.
Of course there are sometimes days in winter when it is really uncomfortable and do not invite you to go outside. No problem – there are also numerous indoor exercise options which are also very suitable in winter.
- Have you ever been climbing or bouldering? These sports are currently absolutely trendy. And rightly so – they strengthen numerous muscle groups, train concentration and strengthen one’s own self-efficacy. In addition, you can try them great in winter, when it is gray and uncomfortable outside.
- Attention water rats! Nothing stands in the way of a visit to the bath or a thermal bath. Because movements in the water such as swimming, diving, aqua gymnastics & Co. have numerous positive effects on our body. They train our condition, protect our joints, strengthen numerous muscles through water resistance and much more. In addition, warm water has a calming and relaxing effect on us so that we often feel reborn after a warm bath.
