Soccer, volleyball, or handball are sports classics that everyone knows. But what about racketlon, ultimate frisbee, or footvolley? Ever heard of them? These sports newcomers bring along variety and new fun. What these and other extraordinary sports are all about, will be explained in today’s post. Maybe there is something you would like to try for yourself?
Racketlon
Racketlon is a tournament sport that combines the disciplines of table tennis, badminton, squash, and tennis. Fans of ball sports can enjoy all of these sports within one tournament. Especially lovers of table tennis and the like can raise their passion to another level here. Racketlon is the right sport for all-rounders, who don’t want to decide for only one of the included sports in particular.
Bike Polo
Instead of horses, you sit on your good old bike and try to score the ball into the goal with a racket. Two teams of three each play against each other on a small field. Winner is either who scored the most goals in a predetermined time or whoever scores five goals first. The most difficult here: The ground must not be touched with the feet. Otherwise, you get a time penalty. This team sport challenges your coordination, balance, and strength skills. Enthusiastic bike fans are in the right place here. You should have a very good feeling for your bike, because you need to maneuver it one-handedly over the course. In addition, you should not be someone to shy away from contact with others and have a good feel for the ball.
Ultimate Frisbee
The very active evolution of the frisbee game challenges everyone. The sport combines elements of basketball and football, which means that your stamina, throwing technique, sprinting strength, and aiming accuracy, as well as tactical thinking are equally challenged. Two teams of seven players each play on a rectangular court about 100 meters long and 37 meters wide. The goal of this running game is to throw the frisbee to your teammates in the opponent’s end zone and catch it there. The interesting thing about this team sport is that referees are not needed, not even at world championships.
Footvolley
Footvolley brings soccer to the beach field! With a good feel for the ball and precision, two teams of two play against each other on a beach volleyball court, adhering to the basic rules of volleyball. The goal is to get the ball to touch the ground in the opponent’s field and avoid the same in your own field. However, as the name here suggests, the body parts allowed for ball control are those that may be used in soccer – everything except the hands and arms. Here, the players are seen to skillfully, and artistically maneuver the ball over the net. Always fun to watch. Maybe something to do in this summer?
Free weight training
Free weight training breaks out of the boring structures of classic weight training. Instead of repeating an exercise forever, the goal here is to bring more variety into muscle building. Once an exercise is learned and performed correctly, the next one is learned right away. If you want to add some variety to your strength training and quickly get bored with classic dumbbell training, free weight training might be worth a try. The equipment is mainly dumbbells and medicine balls.
Competition events
With individual or team competitions you can face an extraordinary challenge and put your fitness to the test. For example, there is an individual competition combination of endurance, high-intensity interval training, and functional training, which is all about testing your strength against your peers. All participants run eight 1-kilometer intervals, in between which the workouts take place. All sports enthusiasts who want to challenge their fitness level very intensively and enjoy endurance as well as strength training are in the right place here. In many other competition events, you can also test your physical and mental limits without competitive pressure. Here, difficult obstacles are overcome through teamwork and rewarded by achieving to step out of your comfort zone.
